Post Office is set to close for revamp

Chatteris Post Office will close for two weeks in the New Year when it undergoes refurbishment.

The branch, in High Street, Chatteris, will shut on January 14 and re-open as a “modernised main Post Office” on February 1.

The new-look office will be open for an additional 13-and-a-half hours, including five hours extra on a Saturday, and will offer more services.

Post Office services will be provided from two serving positions, which will be open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm. A selection of on-demand currencies will also be available after the refurbishment.

Post Office area manager Kevin Shepherd said the extra opening hours, particularly on the Saturday, will make it more convenient for customers to visit.

He said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Chatteris. We are confident this vibrant modern Post Office, at the heart of the community, will be popular.

“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office.”

While the branch is closed for refurbishment, customers can use alternatives branches in New Street, Doddington, and Broad Street, March.

Services that will be available in the new-look Chatteris branch include cash withdrawals, car tax renewal, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, bill payments, mobile phone top-ups, insurance, mortgages and savings, and much more.
