Banned driver stopped by police in Walsoken could end up in prison

A man who drove while disqualified could have a suspended sentence activated.

Daniel Savoury (30) was given the order in January 2020 for possession of a class B drug with intent to supply.

Then, two months before it was due to end, he was stopped by police while driving a BMW in Lynn Road, Walsoken.

He told the officers he was disqualified even before they got to the caution,” prosecutor Denise Holland told King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The offence was committed exactly a year after he had been banned for 36 months.

Savoury, of Churchgate, Gedney, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and having no insurance on October 29, 2021.

As the suspended sentence order was imposed by a crown court, he was committed to Norwich Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be fixed.
