Wisbech reader warns of gutter-cleaning scam

A couple of guys in a white van with ladders on the roof are going around offering to clean out bungalow gutters for £15.

Of course it’s a complete con. One guy distracts you by talking about minor problems he’s noticed on the roof and then the other guy presents you with a bucket of muck taken from the gutters.

This bucket of mud is not your mud, but mud carried from job to job as “evidence” they’ve done some work.

Don’t be taken in by the patter. Don’t let them anywhere near your roof to do work that will turn out to be completely unnecessary and don’t let them “clean your gutters” as, by now, you’ve guessed, they don’t do any cleaning.
