Wisbech St Mary Academy pupils’ trip to Houses of Parliament in London ‘left a lasting impression’
Pupils gained a first-hand experience of how our government operates as they visited the capital.
Children from Wisbech St Mary Academy made the two and a half hour journey to the Houses of Parliament.
During the visit, they learned about the role of Parliament and the process of decision-making that shapes our country.
Additionally, they saw its historic surroundings, including the chambers where debates and discussions take place.
Each got the chance to engage and ask questions to get a deeper understanding of the legislative process and the significance of civic responsibility.
Afterwards, the group spent some more time exploring the city and had a ride on the London Eye, making for a “memorable experience”.
The school said: “Our students returned with a newfound appreciation for the workings of government and the importance of participating in civic duties.
“This is a trip that these young people will remember for the rest of their lives.
“We are proud of our school council for their keen interest and engagement during this trip, and we look forward to seeing how this experience will inspire them in their future endeavours”
Head teacher Jaynie Lynch also praised the pupils, and said: “I am incredibly proud of our children for their impeccable behaviour and well-mannered conduct during our visit to the Houses of Parliament in London.
“It was a joy to share this experience with them and witness their enthusiasm and curiosity.
