Children at All Saints Inter-church Academy in March turn bikes and scooters into characters to kick-start book week

School children got creative to show off their favourite books.

All Saints Inter-church Academy had a grand parade of blinged-up bikes and scooters.

Many children and their families decorated their bikes and scooters in the theme of a book or character for the start of book week.

Holly Baumber, assistant head teacher at the school, said: “We had a wonderful parade of blinged-up vehicles illustrating a range of books from the Very Hungry Caterpillar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”

Steve Clarke from Sustrans, a walking, wheeling, and cycling charity, is working with the school on safer cycling initiatives and judged the winners.

The school then read books and wrote about bicycles.
