Rail disruption for Fenland passengers due to overhead wire damage at Cambridge
Fenland rail passengers faced disruption this morning after overhead wire damage blocked lines running from Cambridge.
National Rail reported major disruption from Cambridge, which is expected to last until 1pm.
It said following damage to the overhead electric wires at Cambridge lines have now reopened but warned as the service recovers, trains running through this station may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.
A statement on the National Rail website at 8am said: "Damage to the overhead electric wires at Cambridge has resulted in a block of all lines."
Services affected include: CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Stansted Airport / Cambridge.
Great Northern between London Kings Cross and Ely / Kings Lynn
Greater Anglia between London Liverpool Street and Cambridge / Cambridge North: and between Cambridge and Norwich / Ipswich
Thameslink between Brighton / London Kings Cross and Cambridge.
