Relief as 'stolen' Cambridgeshire dog returned following West Norfolk appeal

A dog owner has described how lucky she feels after being re-united with her furry companion after it had been suspectedly stolen last week.

Rachael Cooke sent out an appeal believing her wired haired standard dachshund was in West Norfolk after it had gone missing from a farm in Thorney, Cambridgeshire, on Thursday evening.

The relieved owner received a phone call before the weekend telling her that the dog had been handed in to a woman who had seen the appeal on social media.

Mrs Cooke said: "It's very good news, we’re the lucky ones!

"It was reported that night (Thursday) to the police but they said they can’t do anything or give me a crime number for 48 hours as she could be lost, despite there being a car seen driving past and turning round.

"We then received a telephone call to say she [the dog] was given to them and they had seen her being shared everywhere on Facebook."
