Residents evacuated from a March street following a house fire




Police and fire crews have been dealing with a major house fire in March this morning (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to Church Lane at around 9.30am and residents from the immediate vicinity were evacuated.

One resident who contacted the Fenland Citizen said the fire, which sent clouds of black smoke rising, looked serious and was likely to result in major damage.

Police confirmed all occupants of the property managed to escape before the blaze spread.

In a more up to date tweet via their #Fencops account officers said: 2Update #housefire #March. Police and Fire in attendance. Noone injured.

"Some local residents have been evacuated. March Community Centre, Station Rd, open for temporary accommodation. Thank you to local residents for your patience."

The cause of the fire is not yet known, fire crew are still on the scene.
