Royal Train runs as mark of respect at March Railway Station open day
Friends of March Railway Station paid a unique tribute to the Queen on Saturday when they held an open day in support of the English Heritage Festival.
Organised by the National Trust the event sees buildings and places open their doors for free to the public, but the death of the Queen meant many of those doors remained closed over the weekend, and it will be a similar situation again next weekend when the event continues.
The station open day saw a 'great' turnout according to organisers.
Part of the days activities included the unveiling of the newly constructed Platform 2 model created by Jason Carter for the Community Model Railway.
The railway was up and running but as a mark of respect to her majesty the only train to run on the tracks was a model of the Royal Train.
The day, which included a number of stalls, also gave an opportunity for people to see the newly decorated and restored club room, which was completed by Dave Storey.
