Scarecrows have the wow factor in Emneth

Villagers amazed at the weekend with their creativity as Emneth held its annual scarecrow competition and yard sale.

Entrants pulled out all the stops to come up with some amazing creations for the competition, which was judged by those visiting the event using a voting form

Most had the wow factor but in the end it was the Gingerbread Man created by those living at 32 Mill Road who took the honours.

Despicable Me outside 30 Hungate Road was second and near neighbour Derek the Fisherman at 13 Hungate Road came third.

Some of the other eye catching entries included Carl from the film Up with all his balloons, Elliott and ET, a mole catcher, Humpty Dumpty and Alice in Harperland.

Organisers were thrilled with the success of the event and the Gingerbread Man, as is the tradition, has become the new mascot for the Emneth Community Facebook page.
