Elm school children bright in the dark for Road Safety Week thanks to Platform donation
Children at a village school have marked Road Safety Week (November 19th-25th) by wearing their own hi-vis jackets courtesy of housing association.
Platform Home Ownership, which has shared ownership homes for sale at a nearby development, named Skylark, kindly donated 31 of the luminous garments for year six pupils at Elm C of E Primary School, underlining its commitment to giving back to the communities it provides homes for.
With its roots stemming back to the mid-1900s, Road Safety Week has become an important week in the calendar, especially with many children walking to and from school during rush hour each day.
Organised by road safety charity Brake, the week is celebrated yearly, helping to raise awareness of the dangers of excess or inappropriate speed and remember those who have been lost in such accidents.
Many schools, communities and organisations come together to share important road safety messages and take action during Road Safety Week, with Platform providing Year 6 students with a visual presence on their twice-daily route as we enter the darker seasons.
Jade Betts, headteacher at Elm C of E Primary School, said: “We couldn’t be happier with this thoughtful donation from Platform – the children are really pleased.
“It’s great when businesses in the area look out for the community, and we feel privileged to have received this donation for such an important campaign.”
Situated on Elm High Road the Skylark development comprises a collection of two and three-bedroom homes available through Shared Ownership.
Shared Ownership allows home seekers to purchase a share of their home and pay rent on the remaining amount, typically buying between 10% and 75% of the property’s full market value, depending on the model purchased with.
Sabina Cox, marketing manager at Platform said, “It’s fantastic that we were able to provide so many jackets for the children at Elm C of E Primary School.
“We feel it’s really important to give back to the communities we serve, and engagement such as this hopefully goes a long way to supporting that.
“Relationships with local services are important to us, and we’d be more than happy to support the children of Elm Primary again in the future.”
Prices start from £73,500 for a Shared Ownership home. For further details on the Skylark development, please visit https://www.platformhomeownership.com/elm-high-road-wisbech/, or call the team on 0333 200 7304.
