Wisbech schoolgirl Shyla Brown taking on 100 mile bike ride challenge and hosting fun day for Peckover School classmate
A schoolgirl will be clocking up the miles as she takes on a fundraising challenge followed by a fun day.
Shyla Brown, nine, wanted to raise money to help her classmate at Peckover School in Wisbech and best friend, Harrison Dodkin.
Harrison and his eldest brother Finley have both been diagnosed with Battens Disease, strand CLN3, a life-limiting and degenerative neurological disease that will not only take their sight, their memory, and their physical abilities but will also take them from their parents and middle brother Arthur too soon.
The family has been running a Pedal4Memories appeal aimed at raising money to help the boys and their parents Sarah and Ben make memories.
Shyla has set herself the target of riding 100 miles on her bike over the space of two days, Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5.
She's already raised £1,150 for this challenge which you can donate through her JustGiving page.
As well as taking on this challenge, she has organised a fun day for the whole family to help raise more money.
The fun day will take place on Monday, May 6 at The Secret Garden in Wisbech from 11am-3.30pm.
On the day there will be stalls and bouncy castles to enjoy as well as live entertainment and food.
Shyla said: “I want to help them live for the moment and have amazing memories.
“Please give as much, or as little as you can, because I have now been able to see the amazing things the Dodkin family have been able to do with the money they've raised.
“I want them to continue to be able to make as many memories as possible.”
