Shocking figure for domestic abuse call-outs to Cambridgeshire Police over one weekend
Cambridgeshire Police responded to more than 40 calls of reports of domestic abuse in just one weekend – all of them ‘immediate, meaning someone was in serious danger.
The figures have been published by the force on their Facebook page to raise awareness of the seriousness of domestic abuse across our county.
The 41 ‘immediate’ calls meant officers needed to be on the scene as soon as posssible.
The calls came from a range of sources from concerned neighbours, friends, or family raising the alarm and sharing their concerns about an individual’s safety with police.
A police spokesperson said: "No matter how small or insignificant your concerns may seem, one call could change or even save a life.
"Can you help someone out of a desperate situation? Tackling the issue is one of our top priorities."
There is a raft of advice about domestic abuse on the force website from how to report it, or how to make an application under Clare’s Law which allows a concerned person to check someone’s history.
The advice also includes how to hide your browsing history to prevent your partner from checking your searches and there are also links to organisations that offer support to victims.
If someone is experiencing domestic abuse and is in danger then the advice is to call 999.
Reports can also be made online via the force website if it is not an emergency situation. Alternatively you can pop into the local police station and report it in person.
