Tilney All Saints man Bradley Montesanto in King’s Lynn court after stealing £7,200 cash from Terrington St Clement Co-op
A 20-year-old shop worker who was in “financial difficulty” stole £7,200 worth of cash from the till over a two-month period.
Bradley Montesanto, who lives at home with his mother, apparently used the cash to go on holiday.
He appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he admitted committing theft from his employer.
Montesanto, of Church Road in Tilney All Saints, worked at the Co-op in St Clement. He committed his first theft on August 21 last year, when he took cash from the till.
The thefts continued until October 13, when a member of staff was checking figures which did not add up.
They soon discovered that a total of £7,200 was missing, and checked CCTV to see Montesanto helping himself to cash from the till several times.
In mitigation, Alison Muir told the court that Montesanto’s family has offered to pay back the money he stole.
The solicitor said Montesanto was in “financial difficulty” at the time which led him to begin stealing the cash.
However, magistrate chair John Hare said: “You said it was for financial difficulty that you stole, but on the record it says you used the money to go on holiday, and you live at home with your mother.
“It is good of your family to offer to pay the compensation.”
An all-options pre sentence report will be carried out on Montesanto, meaning he could be at risk of receiving a prison sentence.
He will return to the Lynn court on July 17 and has been released on unconditional bail.
