Slimmer Janice hopes to lead the way for others
Experience as a yo-yo dieter constantly battling her own dragons and demons has led one Fenland woman to launch her own Slimming World group to help others.
Janice Goult always thought she could eat whatever she wanted and stay slim as she worked long hours and ran a home.
But sadly that was not the case.
She said "Most of my life, my weight has never been a fairytale, with dragons and demons along the way, and never getting to a happily ever after.
"My weight ballooned. Hiding behind the baggy clothes, long cardigans but also the smiles and laughter. I would buy lovely clothes that I would say I’ll diet in to but all they did was keep my wardrobe company.
"I just felt worse about myself, felt lethargic, depressed and didn’t do much, except work long hours. I was physically unfit and did not do any exercise although I had equipment and DVDs to use."
She enjoyed wonderful holidays with her husband, Paul, but always hid behind the camera when it came to the holiday snaps.
Janice said: "I constantly judged myself. Numerous diets over the years from the quick fixes, fads and those that I could not fit in to my life did not work, and I would then put the weight back on again, and more."
After a cancer scare and an operation Janice embarked once more on her weight loss journey this time as a member of Slimming World.
She said: "Covid did not help but with virtual meetings with our consultant and the team, I continued. It was not easy but planning a variety of food and thinking smarter I have got my life back.
"From having no breakfast, garage snacks and meal deals, wine, and crisps to now eating healthier with this awesome plan. I shop smarter for what I need and still enjoy my treats: chocolate, gin, and cheese.
"The group has become part of my family and our consultant was great, when you walked through the door the happiness was there as everyone has been in your shoes, and don’t judge, they understand. I have now lost over two stone.
With a healthier life Janice has taken the plunge to become a consultant and Thursday(28) will be her first night running Slimming World groups at the Leverington Sports and Social Club. Janice's groups will run at 5.30pm and 7pm every Thursday groups going forward..
