Leverington Sports and Social Club officially opens its new pavilion

A new changing facility at a football club has officially opened after the completion of a successful regeneration project.

Leverington Sports and Social Club has now opened its new addition – its pavilion changing rooms, following the success of its 3G pitch.

Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, Steve Barclay, was in attendance on the big day, standing beside the ribbon cutting that was done by Steve Harley.

He said: “Back in 2018, I visited Leverington Sports and Social Club and heard about the club’s ambitious vision to transform part of their field into a 3G pitch.

“Fast forward to July 2022, and that vision became a reality with the addition of a 3G pitch. The club raised an incredible £120,000, with the remaining funding generously provided by the Football Foundation. But they didn’t stop there.

“Following the success of the 3G pitch, the club set their sights on renovating the changing facilities, with these now successfully delivered.”

He said it is a “fantastic achievement” that will benefit players, families, and the whole community.

Mr Barclay added: “Well done to Matthew Warren, Steve Fisher, Wayne Garner and Steve Harley, and everyone at the club for their dedication and hard work over the years, and to Katie from Cambs FA. It is a great set of facilities delivered through their hard work.”
