Storm Eunice arrives in Fenland with a blast

Residents in Fenland are starting to feel the full force of Storm Eunice as she batters the district with winds of gusting up to 60mph.

Hundreds of homes are without power in Christchurch area after a power line was taken apparently down by the wind.

The affected postcodes are: PE14 9/PE15 8/PE15 0.

UK Power Networks said on their website that around 292 homes have been affected and engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible.

They added: " We're investigating a high voltage overhead electricity line fault which has caused a power cut in the local area."

It is estimated the outage could last until around 7pm tonight.

In the meantime a lorry driver appears to have had a lucky escape after his vehicle was blown over on the A142 between Chatteris and Mepal.

Reports on social media are that he is OK but the lorry is blocking part of the road, so if you are braving going out then expect hold ups.

Another Fenland road is partially blocked, this time due to a fallen tree.

The large tree has come down near the church in Friday Bridge and drivers are being urged to drive carefully.

In Wimblington a resident has put out a plea for help after some fencing fell on their car.
