Wisbech students celebrate their success at virtual ceremonies
More than 200 staff members, students and governors from the College of West Anglia (CWA) came together virtually with families and friends to celebrate outstanding academic and personal achievements.
A number of students, including four from Wisbech, scooped up awards at the annual CWA Virtual Student Awards ceremonies, which were livestreamed via YouTube..
During the various faculty awards ceremonies, 10 out of 30 shortlisted students from all three of CWA’s campuses were crowned as winners in a range of categories, from personal achievement to foundation studies and overall student of the year award.
Ryan Marriott from the Wisbech campus won the Technology Student of the Year award, with Lee Tomlinson scooping runner up.
Harry Jackson and Bradley Lawes, also of the Wisbech Campus, were both runners up in the Apprenticeships of the Year award.
CWA principal David Pomfret opened with a review of the academic year, speaking about cross-campus triumphs, success stories and achievements.
He said: “2020/21 has been a very challenging year globally and the Covid-19 pandemic has presented significant challenges for our students. Despite that, it has been another extremely successful year for the college.
"Given that profile of student success our award winners, selected from our body of approximately 8,000 students, should be very proud of their achievements. I’m extremely proud of and congratulate our students on their commitment, standard of work and achievements. I was delighted to see so many staff, governors, family, friends and employers came to celebrate with our award winners, too.”
