LEARN MOREA teenager has been charged with the Christmas Day assault on Chatteris man Robert 'Speedy' Lea - who is still recovering in hospital.
Michael Cocksedge, 18, of Treeway, Chatteris, has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and has been given conditional bail to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on April 24.
Fifty-three year-old Mr Lea was found with serious head injuries in Station Street on Christmas morning.
As a result of the attack a number of fundraising events were organised to help him and his family. The most recent update on his condition given on Facebook, by a family friend, was that he had got a 'good few more weeks' of being in hospital yet.
