Community rallies to help dog known as Walpole Wanderer

The community has rallied to help pay for the care of a dog that has captured the hearts of people on social media after being on the run for nearly two weeks.

The grey and white female lurcher type dog, nicknamed the Walpole Wanderer, was eventually caught thanks to the patience and tenacity of Caroline Trigg, of Ravenswood Pet Rescue.

She was out over several nights trying to trap the dog, which is believed to have been abandoned by hare coursers.

Sightings of the dog were posted on Facebook with people eager to help rescue her and they ranged from Walpole St Andrew to Marshland St James and many places in between.

She was eventually loured into a garden where Caroline was able to finally catch her and take her to a place of safety where she is receiving the attention she needs and recovering from her stressful ordeal.

Now animal lover Ed Webster has set up a GoFundme page to help raise money to pay for the costs of caring and feeding the dog and that includes vet bills.

He set an initial target of £150 but has already surpassed that with the target standing at £200.

Ed said on the charity page: "This is to help this dog find a loving and caring home."
