There is still time to nominate your heroes for this year's Pride in Fenland Awards
Nominations are starting to come in for the men, women and youngsters who make a difference to our communities ahead of the glittering Pride in Fenland Awards ceremony on March 6 at Wisbech St Mary Community Centre.
Among those already nominated is Vera Shilling from Wisbech. She has been nominated by Samantha Wool for the Volunteer in the Community category for her work with the eyesight charity Cam Sight.
Samantha said: “Vera lives with visual impairment herself and having used a number of the services provided by Cam Sight, felt that she wanted to give a little back and is now a very active and invaluable volunteer.
“Just recently, Vera also joined our board of long standing trustees and will no doubt be a great asset to the team.”
This year the awards are split into four categories:
n Community group, club, organisation or charity that benefits the community
n Volunteer in the community
n Good neighbour
n Young citizen (carer or volunteer)
There is also the special judges award which is chosen from all of the nominations.
Closing date for nominations is February 13. Use the special form on the right and send it to: Fenland Citizen, 17 Tuesday Market Place, King’s Lynn, PE30 1JN.
You can also hand the form into the Fenland@your service shops and Fenland Hall, County Road, March, PE15 8NQ. Nominations can also be made via the Fenland Council website.
