Thieves attack care worker's car stealing wheels and damaging the bumper
The father of a Wisbech carer whose car was vandalised and tyres stolen has asked "who would do this"?
Images of 24-year-old Lucy Kerridge's ruined Hyundai I10 car show a discarded jack lying beside it in a parking area off Windsor Drive, where it had been parked overnight last night, Sunday (10).
Her angry father David, who is a Wisbech-based newspaper delivery roundsman and runs a small business with his wife Alison, said: "These are what my 24 year old daughter, Lucy Kerridge faced when she left her house this morning!
"Lucy is a home healthcare assistant, so a really important key worker especially right now.
"We all know how hard these people are working, helping the elderly and vulnerable in these desperate times.
"Someone thought it was OK to steal all four of her wheels overnight on Sunday (10) and also pull off her front bumper and who knows what other damage to her car.
"What sort of people do this sort of crime? Frankly quite disappointing."
He said CCTV on a nearby property caught two people on camera at around 7.20pm, and he said the perpetrators are seen taking first two wheels and then coming back for the other two.
David said: "Initially we assumed it had happened in the middle of the night, but no it was 7.20pm in the evening. There is no vehicle that can be seen, so they have taken two tyres some where and then come back for the other two.
"We don't know what other damage they have done other than ripping the bumper off or whether they have taken the catalytic converter from underneath, we shall know more when the insurance company sort it out.
"Fortunately it was Lucy's two days off - but normally she would be going to people's homes and helping them to get up and dressed in the morning. She works 50 hours a week - she is a really hard worker.
"But this has unsettled her and has also left her £350 out of pocket because of the excess on her insurance. She will hopefully have a courtesy car when she goes back to work on Wednesday through the insurance company.
"The police have been informed and we had forensic officers out. Clearly the wheels were stolen to order, that has got to have been the case. Let's face it is only a small car, nothing fancy like a BMW or Audi or something."
