Residents in Chatteris, March and Wimblington left with no water over the weekend due to Anglian Water’s burst mains pipe

Multiple villages were left with no water over the weekend after a mains pipe burst.

Residents living in Chatteris, March, Wimblington and surrounding areas reported the issue to Anglian Water on Friday, upon discovering that they had low pressure or no running water at all.

At the time, the company estimated that it would be fixed by 5pm on Saturday, meaning many had gone without water for quite some time.

It was said that those who were vulnerable and on the priority register would receive bottles of water, however, many on Facebook said they did not get any.

One user said: “My 88-year-old Dad got nothing, no bottled water.”

Others say theirs was delivered after midnight, at 2am and 6am when their water was back on.

However, despite the issue being resolved, those living in Wimblington say their homes have been damaged due to flooding.

Anglian Water has been approached for comment.
