Three local good causes helped by Chatteris Court Leet Estate
Three Chatteris organisations have received money from the town’s Court Leet Estate to help with projects.
The money was presented at the town council office’s in Church Lane on Monday evening, with representatives of Chatteris Cricket Club, Chatteris Museum, and the town’s branch of the Royal British Legion in attendance.
Court Leet Estate chairman Michael Graves handed over the cheques, with the cricket club and RBL both receiving £2,000 and the museum £500.
Mr Graves said the cricket club will use their money for new nets, while the RBL will put their donation towards the fund to build a memorial for a bomber crew who died in a crash over the town in WW2.
The museum’s share will be spent on providing replica tools for schoolchildren to handle, rather than the exhibits.
The Chatteris Court Leet Estate is a Chatteris-based charity which owns a block of agricultural land to the west of the town and, from the rent raised, it makes grants to Chatteris-based voluntary organisations to benefit townspeople.
