Thrills and spills as the fair comes to Wisbech and will be in its new home for the first time
All the fun of the fair will be in a Fenland town this week and it will be held for the first time in a new location.
The Mart will be arriving in Wisbech tomorrow, Sunday, and will open on Friday, February 28.
It is the first of the twice-yearly fair visits, run by the Showmans’ Guild, and will be located for the first time on the Church Terrace car park, near St Peter’s Church.
Previously the fair has been run in Chapel Road car park, but following a decision by the National Trust, which owns that car park not to allow it to be used for the fair any more a public consultation was held to find it a new home.
A decision was announced earlier this month that the public had chosen Church Terrace.
The Showman’s Guild will occupy the car park for two weeks, from 5pm tomorrow to 5pm on Sunday, March 9. The car park will be closed to motorists during that period.
Posting on their Facebook page the fair operators are promising some exciting new rides and the return of old favourites such as Super Trooper and Bomber.
Opening 6pm daily from Friday, and at 2pm on Saturday and12pm on Sunday visitors will be able to enjoy all the thrills and side stalls associated with the popular event.
Children’s night is on Thursday, March 6 when all rides will be £1.50 although some exclusions will apply.
The post adds: “Come and visit us at our new venue, we look forward to seeing you all. Your support brings us back every year.”
