Time on furlough and without a job sees March father put his hobby into focus
A March father has put his time on furlough from the start of lockdown to good use honing his photographic skills.
David Kightly, who has since been made redundant from his engineering job, has always enjoyed photography, but never had the time needed to develop his skills.
However, when he was initially furloughed back in March he saw it as a the perfect opportunity to combine his daily exercise with photographing sights from around his local community.
David, who has lived in March for the past 20 years and has three children aged 10, 14 and 16, has spent his walks or bike rides visiting places he can practice his hobby.
He said: "I have always enjoyed the views around the area especially the fantastic sunsets Fenland has to offer us, and I have recently started to document them with my camera.
"I have transferred some of my favourites onto canvas for my dining room feature wall and I have a designated social media account on Instagram for showcasing my hobby.
"I particularly enjoy nature and landscape shooting at different times and in different weather conditions, with a couple of my favourite areas being Gault Wood and Whitemoor/Ring's End nature reserves in March.
"The ever changing scenery from season to season and tranquil environment brings out the wildlife and a sense of inner well being.
"I normally use a canon 50d camera, which I am slowly learning through the manual mode but also take lots of random snaps on my iPhone when not at a specific location.
"One of my favourite modes and subjects to shoot is fungus/mushrooms in macro the vast array of different species all with different colours textures and shapes to my eyes make ideal subjects to shoot in the peaceful woodlands."
