Irmantas Spudys and Erikas Anzelis jailed for five years after ‘chop shop’ discovered in Upwell
Two men have been jailed for five years each after stealing vehicles worth more than £200,000 for a ‘chop shop’.
Erikas Anzelis, a 43-year-old from Boston, and Irmantas Spudys, a 45-year-old with no fixed address, were each sentenced to five years in prison at Norwich Crown Court last Friday.
The pair took part in a ‘chop shop’ operation in Small Lode - Upwell, where stolen cars with a combined value of £217,195, were dismantled for their parts.
Diversity in Whittlesey on display during Mayor Cllr Alex Miscandlon’s tour of the town
A town’s mayor has taken a tour of shops and restaurants to highlight growth and diversity in the area.
Cllr Alex Miscandlon, the mayor of Whittlesey, was joined by Simon Black of Simon Black Interiors and Citizen of the Year Robert Windle during his visits to the town’s businesses.
Numerous plates of dim sum were had at the first stop, which was the grand opening of Lily of the Valley, a newly opened Chinese restaurant on Market Street.
A hotel in Wisbech could be turned into multiple flats if plans are given the go-ahead.
A planning application was submitted to the Fenland District Council by Mr Rafique for the Hare and Hounds Hotel on North Brink to be converted into six flats and to erect a bin store and cycle store.
It is proposed to convert the existing Grade II listed property to residential flats at ground, first, and second floor level. The basement and third-floor areas will remain as existing, with no changes.

Firefighters rushed to a blaze in the early hours, which is believed to have been started deliberately.
Appliances from Wisbech, Thorney, March, West Walton and Outwell were called to a fire in the open on New Drove in Wisbech at 1.40am on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters used hose reels and drags to extinguish a large refuse fire.

Glebelands Primary Academy in Chatteris has achieved a Platinum Award for its Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) journey, which puts it in the top 1% of UK primary schools in terms of the quality of play it offers.
The academy started its journey in January last year, intending to provide all children with excellent play opportunities every lunchtime.
A man who breached a strict court order by speaking to three young girls while performing an indecent act in his car has been sent to jail.
Max Simpkins, 29, of Eastwood End, Wimblington, was caught on CCTV trying to engage the girls, aged eight and nine, in conversation.
He had pulled up alongside them in his blue Mini Cooper on Paynes Lane, Feltwell, at about 5.20pm on October 23.
