Diversity in Whittlesey on display during Mayor Cllr Alex Miscandlon’s tour of the town
A town’s mayor has taken a tour of shops and restaurants to highlight growth and diversity in the area.
Cllr Alex Miscandlon, the mayor of Whittlesey, was joined by Simon Black of Simon Black Interiors and Citizen of the Year Robert Windle during his visits to the town’s businesses.
Numerous plates of dim sum were had at the first stop, which was the grand opening of Lily of the Valley, a newly opened Chinese restaurant on Market Street.
They later headed to visit Taylor Beauty Clinic on Queens Street, where the owner, Magda, from Poland, was hard at work.
An array of continental foods was on display at the Whittlesey Fruit and Vapes Mini Market on High Causeway, as well as Afro-Caribbean goods at Kowope Foods on the same street.
The trio also paid a visit to Stacey Yerrall, a Canadian businesswoman who has recently taken over Milky Bar on Eastgate, and Cllr Miscandlon had the chance to make his own milkshake.
On Broad Street was Ghareeba Ali from Kurdistan, selling silks and clothing and many other products.
The last stop was for lunch with Maria & Pepe Boccia from Vesuvio, an Italian Restaurant.
