Cambridgeshire County Council will be holding two public engagement events for the March Area Transport Study (MATS) later this month.

The events are being held as part of the detailed phase of the project: for Broad Street, Peas Hill, Twenty Foot Road and St Peters Road, and the preliminary design phase of the project: for the Northern Industrial Link Road.

The two public events are on:Thursday, September 22 at the George Campbell Leisure Centre from midday to 4pm; and Thursday, September 29 at March Library from 2.30pm to 6.30 pm.

The public are invited to discuss elements of the designs with representatives from both Cambridgeshire County Council and design consultants Atkins before designs are completed towards the end of the year.

Funded by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), the March Area Transport Study aims to identify potential traffic improvements for the town. The design phases and a Full Business Case (FBC) will be finalised in December. The FBC will then be presented to the CPCA for technical assurance review early in 2023, to inform a decision as to whether to award construction funds.

More information about the March Transport Study can be found on the county council website.

Cllr Alex Beckett, chair of Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways and Transport Committee, said: “We are committed to helping market towns like March develop greener and more people-friendly transport links that really serve the community, improving public areas, and giving space for walking and cycling. We want to make it easier for people to travel in and around March. We'd like to encourage people to share their thoughts with us to inform this much needed work.”
