Tree recycling to fund vital care at the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech

The team at the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre are inviting you to get involved in Wisbech’s new Christmas tree recycling scheme.

By registering your real tree or signing up as a volunteer you can make a difference to people with a life-limiting illness being cared for in your community.

If you don’t want to spend time getting rid of your real Christmas tree, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre team will collect and recycle it for a donation. Their teams of friendly volunteers will be collecting trees on Saturday January 14 in postcodes PE13 and PE15.

Trees must be registered online in advance (by 11.59pm on Sunday January 8) to be included in the collection.

The centre, which is run by Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge, provides Hospice at Home in Fenland and patient care at its centre in Wisbech. Arthur Rank Hospice Charity launched the scheme in 2015 and have seen appetite for this innovative fundraiser grow year on year, along with the number of volunteers who have come forward to help make it possible.

Each year more postcodes have been added and 2023 sees the inclusion of Wisbech locations.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity’s fundraising coordinator Toni Bird, who is based at the centre in Wisbech, said: “I am so pleased to be bringing this service to a new area. Money raised will help ensure specialist nurses provide care and comfort, free of charge, to patients living with a life-

limiting illness and their families across Wisbech and the Fens during the festive season and beyond.”

Toni added: “If you or someone you know can spare some time to help, I would love to hear from you. I am also looking for people to help leaflet in the approach to the event as well as drivers and crew members (with or without their own vans) to come forward to collect the trees on Saturday January 14. It’s going to be fun day which will help us raise even more funds for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity to enable the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre to provide care to our local community.”
