Trial of Wisbech murder suspect David Newton, who denies killing Una Crown, set to resume tomorrow




The trial of a 70-year-old who denies murdering his elderly neighbour is set to continue tomorrow as the jury is not sitting in court today.

David Newton, of Magazine Close in Wisbech is accused of murdering 86-year-old Una Crown, who was found dead in her Bunglalow on nearby Magazine Lane on January 13, 2013.

The second week of the trial has been taking place at Cambridge Crown Court, with the trial is expected to last for four to five weeks.

The jury was told yesterday afternoon by Judge Justice Garnham that they would not be needed in court today due to legal arguments being put forward by either the defence or prosecution.

The trial is set to continue tomorrow.
