Two Wisbech 19-year-olds charged after 'officer assaulted' over bank holiday weekend




Two teenagers from Wisbech have been charged following an assault on an officer in Hunstanton over the Bank Holiday weekend.

An officer was speaking to two individuals on Beach Terrace Road in Hunstanton at around 10.30am on Friday.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said the officer was subsequently "assaulted and sustained an injury to his hand".

Abbie Bannister, 19, of Storbeck Road in Wisbech, has been charged with criminal damage, assault on an emergency worker and contravening government guidelines regarding the "restriction of movement" during the lockdown.

Jack Ovendale, 19, of Cocketts Drive in Wisbech, has been charged with resisting a constable in execution of their duty, contravening requirements restricting movement during the emergency period, and being drunk and disorderly.

Both have been bailed to appear at Lynn's Magistrates' Court on July 2.
