Upwell teenager caught drug dealing will have to wait to find out his punishment after King's Lynn magistrates adjourn court case
An 18-year-old Upwell drug dealer was caught with more than 150 grams of cannabis when police swooped on a home.
Brandon Webber had racked up thousands of pounds of drug debt and was supplying to try and help pay it off, Lynn Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday.
Prosecutor Jane Walker said: “Officers had attended an address in King’s Lynn to execute a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
“Three males were in their beds. One of those handcuffed was the defendant. He pulled out a locked case from under the bed and said ‘It’s in there, it’s mine’.”
About one gram of cocaine was found on the windowsill above the bed.
Miss Walker said Webber was then heard talking to his mother, who “seemed to want to take responsibility for these matters”.
“To his credit, the defendant said he would not allow that,” the prosecutor added.
Miss Walker said there were also young children in the property, one of whom proffered the PIN code for a mobile phone seized by police.
The value of the cannabis amounted to several hundred pounds.
Webber, of Croft Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a class B drug (cannabis) and possession of a class A drug (cocaine).
In mitigation, solicitor Tiffany Meredith told the bench he had used cannabis because he struggled with ADHD and his medication fell away as he moved into adulthood.
“He ended up building up a drug debt and using cocaine too,” she said. As a way of trying to reduce his drug debt, the teenager got into supplying too.
“In some ways, the police becoming involved may just have saved his bacon,” added Miss Meredith.
A pre-sentence report was ordered and the case adjourned to May 14.
