Parson Drove horse show makes a comeback after four years
After a long four years away, Parson Drove horse show made a comeback on Sunday.
And this time there was no extreme weather or pandemic lockdown restrictions to put a halt to the event.
Secretary Gavin Booth was delighted with the day.
“We had around 100 entries which was on a par with the last time we ran the show back in 2018” he said.
“Competitors came from far away as Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Norfolk and we gave away 34 trophies.
“It was very encouraging to hear some of the competitors say that it was the best organised show they had been to this year,” he added.
There were in-hand, lead rein and ridden classes, turnout classes and several qualifiers for Equifest championships which gave the entry lists a boost in some sectons.
There were also classes for coloured horses and for mountain and moorland breeds. And classes catered for all ages and abilities of riders.
Show jumping was not included in the programme this time but it is hope to reintroduce it next year and bring in even more entries.
“We felt it was too expensive and time consuming to do it this year but it will be back,”said Gavin.
Gavin said he want to thank all of the sponsors, the judges and helpers for contributing to the success of this, the 44th event in the village show’s long history.
“We would love to hear from people who might like to join our team next year,” he added.
Any profits made from the show will go the village hall and playing field.
