Wimblington garden centre business Skylark is set to open new fishing lakes
Skylark opens new fishing lakes as part of a much larger vision for the Wimblington-based garden centre complex.
Skylark Lakes is set in the heart of the beautiful Fenland countryside close to Skylark on the Manea Road. With three lakes spanning the complex, there's something for everyone whether you're into big carp, match sized carp, bream, tench or big roach, or just want to sit and relax and enjoy the wildlife.
After a large investment by Skylark in 2019, they purchased the old Hanson quarry site, spotting a great opportunity to further diversity the business. The site is home to established fishing lakes, previously operated by a syndicate.
“The lakes are an angler’s paradise with a healthy mixed head of fish including specimen sized carp, bream and tench. Our number one aim is to build and develop great fishing for Fenland Anglers and develop the whole site over the coming years. The prospect of expanding into new markets was an important driver behind the decision to purchase the site” said Edward Gowler, managing director of Skylark.
The scenic complex is home to three lakes that hold a vast array of species, boasting 36 swims, aimed at providing enjoyable fishing on a picturesque, wildlife enriched, well-run waters.
Skylark Lakes will be temporarily closing on the February 24 and looking to reopen around April 1. During the closure Skylark are looking to carry out some much-needed maintenance over the whole site, including improvements to the roadways, and clearing of some weeds within the waters and general preservation of the site.
Anyone interested in applying for a season ticket should register via email to info@skylarkgardencentre.co.uk with a reference and C.V. of your fishing history.
Larger plans are in development for the overall site and updates will be announced later.
