Wimblington's bacon butty morning is a sizzling sell-out success
Three hundred plus rashers of bacon, a sell out cake stall and afternoon teas ensured Wimblington's second bacon butty morning of the year was a sizzling success.
Organised by the village's Christmas lights group the event raised £730 which will be spent on this switch-on extravaganza planned for November 25.
Joanne Rose,of the Christmas lights group, said the day had not only seen locals turning out for a butty but also a group of cyclists who had planned their 25 mile route to including Wimblington Village Hall so they could stop by for breakfast.
The village choir performed during the morning and there were also stalls including a children's tombola. There was also a raffle.
The afternoon teas were available for take-away and like the cake stall also sold out.
Joanne said: "We hold two bacon butty mornings a year and they are always very popular. The money from this one will be spent on the Christmas lights switch-on event. We have already bought 300 metres of new lights for this year.
"There will be a road close in place in Addison Road where there will be fair rides. The event starts with a craft fair from 3pm in the village hall and the lights will be switched-on at 6pm. There will be entertainment in the lead up to this and the arrival of the sleigh."
