Wisbech burglar jailed after leaving blood at scene of the crime

A Wisbech burglar who left blood at the home of his victim has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Mark Coleman, (37), of King Street, Wisbech, broke into the house in Beechwood Road, Wisbech, on March 18.

Having tried unsuccessfully to force open a window, he smashed another, and cut himself climbing into the house. He stole a number of items, including several pieces of gold jewellery, a TV, a Kindle Fire and the bathroom blinds.

During the course of the burglary Coleman left blood on the kitchen bin, which provided a positive DNA match.

He pleaded guilty to burglary and theft and was sentenced yesterday (July 22) at Cambridge Crown Court.

Detective Constable Jon Edwards said: “Thanks to excellent forensic work by the Scenes of Crime Officers we were able to secure this conviction and ensure the local community are protected from Coleman’s criminal activities.”
