Wisbech Castle of Horrors was a ghoulish sell-out success for second year running
Sell-out crowds risked 'The Sleep Clinic', 'Den of the Pigmen' and 'The Carnival of Clowns' to help 'rescue' a coma patient at Wisbech Castle.
They also made their way down the 'Squeeze Corridor', 'The Spider Walk' and heard 'Mark Birken's Warning' - all in the name of Halloween fun for the second 'Castle of Horrors' event.
For three days town councillors, volunteers and members of the Nine Lives Theatre put on a ghoulishly scary show to celebrate Halloween and once again the scarefest event proved a huge hit, selling out not once but twice. With first all the initial time slots sold and then extra added slots being taken too.
Visitors played the part of 'Dreamwalkers' and had to walk through a host of 'encounters' to solve the mystery as to why Sally-Anne Birken was in a coma.
All the correct answers were placed in box and rescued Sally-Anne drew a winner for a £50 prize. This was won by Darren Sleight. The correct answer was 'Spider Bite'.
The 'Wisbech Sleep Institute' attraction ran for three days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
On Saturday the planned family Halloween fun day had to be cancelled due to the weather.
But volunteers opened the café and offered a curtailed version with some of the activities including face painting and cake decorating.
Hundreds of people still turned out to enjoy the fun, which also included 'The Squeeze Corridor' which was also up and running.
And once the rain stopped part of the 'Spooky Walk' was also opened including the 'Cobweb Passage' for families to enjoy.
Posting on the Wisbech Castle Facebook page Councillor Steve Tierney said: "Our Castle of Nightmares event is now over. We were plagued by rain and bell-ringing on the last night but volunteers put on a brave face and all was well.
"I hope all our guests had a scary good time and I'd like to thank the dozens of volunteers who participated and did such a fantastic job.
"Completely sold out. Rave reviews again. Nice one all. See you next year."
