An expanding dance school has welcomed a new instructor.
Laura-Jayne Shippey has welcomed her old friend Conan Nicholas to LJ’s Dance Academy.
Mr Nicholas, 29, of Wisbech, trained at the renowned Urdang Academy in London before performing on cruise ships.
He is now taking two contemporary dance classes on a Thursday for the academy, which meets at Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech.
Miss Shippey said the school has grown considerably over the last year.
“The dance school is getting busier and it has got to the point were I haven’t any more time to teach extra classes.
“It’s mainly young ones who have joined the classes. Some of my classes have now reached the 25 mark and that is the maximum I can take.
“I have been friends with Conan since I was 15. We know each other really well and we used to perform in shows together.
“We have similar interests so it is nice to work together.”
Mr Nicholas will be taking two contemporary dance classes for children and adults.
Miss Shippey said: “Contemporary – but much less strict. It is a free and expressive form of dance.
“The feedback I have received from Conan’s dance classes has been very positive and everyone has enjoyed it.”
The new children’s class, which is open to youngsters aged eight and over, runs from 6.15pm to 7pm.
This is followed at 7pm by the second class, for teenagers and adults. Classes cost £4 and £2 for a taster session.
