Wisbech singer wows The Voice judges
Wisbech singer Vanessa Hunt is through to the next round of BBC singing talent show ‘The Voice’ after an “incredible” performance on Saturday night.
Judges Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and Rita Ora all turned their chairs for the former College of West Anglia student, who sang Cream’s ‘Sunshine of Your Love’.
The only judge who didn’t want the 27-year-old on their team was Will.i.am.
“I thought it [the performance] was really something,” said Sir Tom Jones following the audition in front of a studio audience.
Fellow judge, Ricky Wilson, added: “For me, I just got lost in your performance. Incredible job Vanessa.”
But Ms Hunt decided to join ‘How We Do’ hit singer Rita Ora’s team.
“In all honesty, you sounded like nobody else and that’s all that mattered,” the singer told her.
Ms Hunt usually performs with the band ‘The Look’.
Her boyfriend Richard Knight, a fellow bandmate, convinced her to apply for the show.
She said: “It was absolutely surreal. I never get ill but the night before I had a sore throat so I was taking everything I could like Strepsils, honey and lemon.
“I was nervous because of that but I don’t think it affected my performance.”
