Wisbech trader slams tourism website
A trader says the website aimed at promoting tourism in Fenland is “not fit for purpose”.
Wisbech postmaster Ray Wicks is calling for improvements to be made to the Visit Fenland pages.
He says the site, which can be found via the Fenland District Council page, is not user friendly and should include an accurate map.
Mr Wicks, who runs Etcetera in York Row, said: “They have paid for this and I don’t think it is fit for purpose as it doesn’t give people clear information.
“It doesn’t help any of the towns if the information is not accurate.
“Rather than using a Google map they should have an accurate map of the town centres showing where all of the shops and attractions are.”
Mr Wicks is unhappy as the current maps do not have shops in the right locations.
He would also like to see an easy to read list of car parks in the area rather than a Google map.
Mr Wicks would also like pictures of the tourist information centres and their accurate locations.
He said: “I am surprised that an organisation like Fenland District Council has put this out.
“This is not user friendly. The information should be at your fingertips.”
A spokesman for the district council said: “We welcome all suggestions on ways to improve the tourism website.
“We are planning to meet with Mr Wicks to discuss his concerns and any help he can give to make the site better.”
