WNDRA launch appeal for new Gator

Disabled riders in West Norfolk are appealing for help in raising £9,000 for a new vehicle.

West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled needs a John Deere Gator to follow behind its carriage drivers and for important work around the Magpie Centre at Wallington Hall.

The association’s previous 4x4 utility vehicle has broken down and is not repairable.

Staff at the yard have been following the carriage on a bike until dealers Doubledays had loaned a Gator while the association raises money for a new one.

More than 100 people a week, of all ages and with a wide range of physical and learning disabilities, benefit from riding and carriage driving lessons at the centre.

A spokeswoman for the association said this is an important vehicle. She said: “We need a 4x4 utility vehicle to follow behind the carriage for health and safety reasons. If there is a problem, back-up help is available.

“It is also needed for delivering hay to the ponies, paddock maintenance and for transporting equipment. This vehicle is essential.

“Our previous vehicle gave up three weeks ago and we would like to thank Doubledays for their loan.”
