Horrific accident in Wisbech, woman seriously injured

Police are appealing for witnesses after an horrific incident where a woman was hit by a vehicle after jumping off a pavement to avoid being hit by a speeding motorbike.

She has been taken to hospital with a serious injury after the incident, on Weasenham Lane, Wisbech at about 5.05pm on Friday. The motorbike failed to stop at the scene.

On social media witnesses are reporting seeing a motorbike with no lights on being driven at speed prior to the accident, with the rider wearing no helmet. It had also been seen in the area on Wednesday and Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "Did you witness the above collision? Did you see this bike? Did you see the rider prior to the collision? Are you the rider?"

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident 361 of February 7.
