Conservative’s Steve Tierney keeps his place as councillor for Wisbech West at Cambridgeshire County Council elections

A Conservative councillor has secured his seat for another term in the Cambridgeshire County Council elections.

Cllr Steve Tierney, who emerged victorious in the Wisbech West count with 874 votes, says he wants to “engage with more people.” In what appears to be a trend, Reform was his closest opponent.

He has been a councillor for a few terms now, and now plans on “increasing his work”.

Cllr Tierney said: “It has been an interesting election, and if you take anything away from what we need to take away, it is that social media does not win elections - hard work wins elections.

“I would like to thank my entire team and family for helping me. All of the people of Wisbech who voted for me, thank you so much. You are my heroes.

“It’s lovely to win. I have been the councillor for a couple of terms. I am so pleased people have put their faith in me.

“I always work hard for the area. I want to increase my work to try and engage with more people.”

Other nominees were:

• George Patrick Broughton (Labour) – 141

• Bob Ensch (Green Party) – 68

• George Arthur Harwin (Reform UK) – 651

• Chang Liu (Liberal Democrats) – 52
