Marshland High School’s Pink Ladies hockey team to take on King’s Lynn parkrun this summer in aid of Angles Theatre in Wisbech

A team of young hockey players is looking to make a difference in the community with a fundraising run.

Marshland High School’s Pink Ladies will be taking part in Lynn’s parkrun at The Walks in support of the Angles Theatre on Saturday, July 5.

The Wisbech drama company is volunteer-run and sees many of the students attend to take lessons.

It will be the eighth year that the Marshland squad has aided causes in the area, and if they reach their target, they will have raised more than £25,000 overall.

“At a time when lots of media will point to negativity about our youngsters, this group really is trying to crack that stereotype,” said head of PE Paul Swinburn.

In the past, the team has helped Fenland’s Women's Refuge, food banks, and a lady with Leukemia.

“We are very proud of all the pupils who have ever taken part, and you can see us run the event,” Paul added.

“You can’t miss us, we will all be wearing our Pink Ladies hockey team strip.”
