Winner and runner-up named after youngsters from Phoenix Youth Provision in Whittlesey battle it out in a bake-off
A group of youngsters battled it out to be crowned the winner and runner-up in a bake-off competition.
Last Wednesday, Phoenix Youth Provision in Whittlesey put on a bake-off final for its youngsters to get creative after weeks of making “phenomenal” sweet treats.
The Provision offers youth sessions for those between the age of ten and 18.
Over the last few weeks, the youngsters have been baking “absolutely phenomenal” cookies, brownies, and cupcakes, and decided during a planning meeting that they would like to hold a bake-off competition.
So, ‘The Great Phoenix Bake Off 2025’ was organised, where Issy Maltby was crowned the winner with Dylan Kirton as runner-up.
The judges on the night were Jack Avison from How are you Fenland, Abby Glonek from CPSL Mind, and Alison Crouch from the Ferry Project in Wisbech.
Becky Crane, youth worker for Phoenix Youth Provision, said: “Our young people have worked so hard at planning and creating.
“Outstanding doesn't even cut it for how things went. The final of the bake-off was incredible.
“We at Phoenix are immensely proud of what our young people created for this competition, which they planned for themselves, with us as facilitators.
“We are passionate about empowering young people through active participation, and this competition showed how young people can create phenomenal events and projects when believed in and supported.”
