Bespoke Wisbech book needs your creations
People of all ages are being given a chance to have their creative worked featured in a special book.
The King’s Church in Wisbech are inviting youngsters to submit drawings and adults to submit photographs which could be featured in a bespoke version of Luke’s Gospel.
Not only will the winners have their work printed in the book, there is also a host of prizes on offer including a copy of the book, an invitation to the book launch and a £10 voucher for the town’s Luxe Cinema.
Matt McChlery, overseer at the church, said: “We have come across a company which offers a service to publish a gospel from the Bible where you can personalise it for the area in which you are.
“We thought it would be excellent and we wanted to make it all local.
The competition is the start of the process. We hope it’s going to be good.”
The book is set to feature Wisbech and the surrounding areas, with an exclusive number of 1,000 copies set to be printed
As part of the competition, children of primary school age are being asked to draw a scene from a story in the book of Luke in the Bible.
Three hand drawn images will be selected to feature in the publication - and the winners’ schools will also receive 100 copies each to read and enjoy.
The judges will also be on the search for four photographs of Wisbech and the surrounding area. One photograph will be selected and used on the front page of the book, while three further images will be on show inside.
However, there are plans to ensure that all submissions are seen by the public.
Matt said: “It’s tricky planning anything at the moment but we would like to be able to open the launch celebration, which is pencilled in for July 10, to everyone if we are able to.
“At the prize giving we will have a slideshow of all of the entries so that they can all be seen.
“We are hoping there will be a lot of local interest and we hope that we would see the book in hotels and pubs in the area. They can have a pile so that people can help themselves to it.
