LEARN MOREOnce again crowds filled the streets of Chatteris for the much-anticipated annual Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday afternoon.
The town centre, normally filled with cars and traffic, was instead closed to vehicles and filled with around 20 fair rides and side-stalls.
Of course Father Christmas was there to make sure everything went smoothly and to help Chatteris schoolgirl Zuzanna Brodzinska throw the switch to light up the town.
Zuzanna won this year's draw for the honour of turning the lights on which goes to a pupil in alternate years from Glebelands and Kingsfield schools. This year it was Kingsfield's turn.
There were carols played by a brass band in Market Hill gardens.
Volunteers have spent the past few weeks putting up the lights which run through the town centre and are considered among the best in the region.
The Salvation Army also held its Christmas fair and attracted lots of visitors eager to pick up a few gifts.
