More marathons for March runners
For the third weekend on the trot, March AC runners were on a marathon road trip as seven runners headed to the Asda Yorkshire race weekend, with Kay Dedman completing the 10-miler and the remaining six runners completing the marathon 26.2 mile event.
Two March runners were competing in their very first marathons: Joanne Anderson Wenn and Nicky Markillie. Both had great races, finishing in 4:35:32 and 5:29:21 respectively.
First home for the club was Andrew Wool in a superb 3:34:58. Special mention to Michelle Fovargue, who completed the Yorkshire Marathon only two weeks after completing the London Marathon.
Nearer to home and on a flatter course, another seven March runners took on the scenic Cambridge Half Marathon. First home for March was Dan Barber in 1:30:34 and first lady home was Kanina O’Neil in a PB of 1:34:15.
Mike Blackledge was also out on his travels again, this time taking on the Bedford Autodrome Half Marathon, which he completed in 1:47:39.
Alan Brown took on the Ultra Tour of Edinburgh, a 33 mile event which took runners up and down 3,000 feet of ascent and descent, with the highest peak at over 1,500 feet. Alan completed the course in 7:21:58, managing to average 12 minute miles despite the tough ascents.
