Vinny Easey pips Steve Freeman to Marshland St James Buttonhole Lake final £2,000 first prize

By Pete Woodhouse

Saturday and Sunday saw a two-day tournament final held at Buttonhole Lake, and 16 anglers graced the final.

The winning angler in an exciting finale was Vinny Easey who caught well on day one for 202lb on peg 19.

Meanwhile, Steve Freeman also caught well on day one winning his section with 168lbs 15oz on peg 5 – both anglers won their section's day two which meant the highest combined two-day weights would determine the outcome.

The weights were added and the winner of the 2019 Buttonhole Lake tournament trophy was Easey by just 13 ounces, and thus walked away with £2,000.

Top five places: 1 Vinny Easey, 2 Stephen Freeman, 3 Andy Kelk, 4 Matt Bunting, 5 Matt Arnold

Special mention to Nick Watson section winner day one for arranging the sponsor, and to the Fenland Citizen.

Any angler can have free fishing on Friday 13, 2.30pm until 6.30pm, as long as they say they read it in the Fenland Citizen.
